Hello! My name is Courtney and I love to create things. I draw, paint, work with Photoshop and Illustrator, sometimes I sculpt, and occasionally you can catch me making a batch of cookies. I like to stay upbeat and optimistic, and I just let the hard stuff roll off my back. I don't like to dwell too much on the negative, because that never helped anyone, did it? I take this same approach to my work. If I put a lot of time and effort into a piece, and the end result isn't up to par, I have no problem trying to fix it, or scrap it and restart all together. I like learning from my mistakes and enjoy pushing myself to my full potential. The end result is always so much more rewarding than an easy walk in the park.
As far as what I draw? I like to keep an open mind. You want me to draw a plant? Sure. A dragon? Heck yea! A waded up tissue in a trash can? Uhhhh, sure? I'll draw pretty much anything. It is always fun to see how my style will portray something new, that maybe I haven't really explored before.
What's my style? Flannel and jeans. No, just kidding. Actually, I'm not. But art style! I enjoy doing full value drawings with graphite on paper, and then coloring them in Photoshop. My work can either go soft and gentle, or loud and vibrant, depending on the subject matter and the effect I want to achieve. I can do soft lines or hard lines, gentle value or strong shapes, hand done or digital. If I had to describe my body of work in a few words, they'd be cute, playful, goofy, and colorful. All of these words, I've come to realize, are all things I look for in my life. I like to have fun and be a little goofy, I love cute things like animals, and what's life without some color?
